Brokenstraw Repair, Maintenance and Inspection Service

The Shop Rate is $36.50 per hour.

Compare to $75.00+ per hour at any factory car dealership – Ford, GM or Dodge.

The shop rate is billed in ½ hour increments.

An Annual Inspection Fee is $250 for singles and $500 for twins

This fee DOES include: the physical inspection, inspection log entries, AD research and verifying AD compliance.

This fee DOES NOT include: mechanical labor necessarily required to complete an inspection (interior removal, inspection plate removal, oil changes, compression checks, magneto timing, aircraft and engine wash, etc.)

You are strongly encouraged to be present for the inspection and to participate at any level of mechanical work with which you are comfortable.  Generally, you know what needs to be done to your plane.

The fee will be assessed whether the aircraft passes or fails its inspection.

Please, do not ask me to compromise on aviation safety issues — ever.

The FAA allows you to do ANY work on an aircraft that is supervised by a certificated A & P.

When you work, do as much as you can.  As you work, make a list of what you can’t do and I will do it for you.

A deposit must cover parts that cost more than $300.00, which I order for you, before I order the parts.

I am very happy for you to order the parts that I will either use for you, or supervise your use of.  In this case, you save money, avoid deposits and are more involved in the process of maintaining your plane.  To help you, I will provide a list of parts needed, quantities required, and recommended sourcing with appropriate phone numbers.

If I order and pay for parts (even if you have deposited money towards the parts) then I add 17½ % on top of the total parts cost (which may include the part, core charges, taxes, shipping and other supplier charges) to offset my overhead costs (telephone tag, faxes, email, delivery, pick ups, credit card fees etc.)

IN ANY AND ALL CASES — parts must be PMA’d or TSO’d and traceable. Parts must be approved for use on your particular aircraft In Accordance With (IAW) the Type Certificate Data Sheet (TCDS) for your aircraft or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).

We have a new, relatively small, clean, heated shop (60’ x 70’)..

So, space is at a premium.  Therefore, within reason, when maintenance is completed you are expected to pick your plane up promptly.  After 3 business days, if the plane is to remain in the hanger, you will be charged $50.00 per week for storage.

I will ferry any plane to the shop for a flat $50.00.  I would be pleased to include your BFR in the ferry flight.
